my journey of dance ⋆ bio

my journey began in Abilene, Texas where I started Classical Ballet at the age of three at dance, ltd studio. in the years that followed, I continued training in styles of Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop and Lyrical. it was evident early on that I had an affinity for the fine arts, particularly movement expression, and sought to explore my options beyond the studio walls. when I was 14 years old, I moved to Allen, TX where I began my freshman year of high school on the Allen dance/drill team, the Tallenettes. I embraced the transition from studio dance to team-based dance, utilizing my technical training to serve as my foundation while learning how to work with others and pursue my opportunities in dance leadership. I served as a Junior Lieutenant and finished with my Senior year as Captain of the Tallenettes. after graduating from Allen High School, I began teaching with Marching Auxiliaries (MA Dance) at numerous summer and private camps in Texas and surrounding areas.

from there, I decided to pursue my dance on a collegiate level by auditioning for the Kilgore College Rangerettes, the first and most influential drill team, not only in Texas, but in the world. I was honored to be selected for the 70th Line of the Rangerettes ('09-'11) and I served as Right Middle Lieutenant during my sophomore year. I had incredible opportunities with the Kilgore College Rangerettes including a performance on a cruise ship, marching in the McDonald's Thanksgiving Day Parade in Chicago, performing in two Cotton Bowls at AT&T Stadium, copious halftime shows at Kilgore College football games and their annual spring production of Rangerette Revels in Kilgore, TX.

upon completion of my sophomore year at Kilgore College, I moved back to the Metroplex and continued my education at Texas Woman's University (TWU) in Denton. I earned my Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics with a Minor in Dance and spent one semester studying abroad at Murdoch University in Perth, Australia.

while attending TWU, I became a member of America's Sweethearts, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. as a rookie DCC, I was also selected as a Show Group member to represent the team in special appearances and performances around the country. I had the experience of a lifetime performing at the Dallas Cowboys' home games, making regular appearances around DFW, meeting some of the most incredible people and traveling to various parts of the United States to be an ambassador for the Dallas Cowboys' Organization.

since then, I've continued teaching dance and choreographing at various schools and dance studios, training dancers privately for auditions/teams, working at MA Dance Camps and Competitions, judging local auditions for dance/drill teams, and dancing for the Allen Americans Ice Angels ('15-'16). I am thankful to continue to learn and grow in this passion of mine by attending workshops and classes whenever I get the chance to, and just sharing my love of movement anywhere I can. being able to teach jazzercise has been an amazing outlet for me, along with teaching for the dance studio network at both allen and mckinney locations.
